Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a mandatory requirement of student visas for all international students, except for
- Norwegian students as a result of an agreement between the Australian and Norwegian governments,
- Belgian students who are considered to have met 'adequate insurance' requirements on the basis of the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement between Australia and Belgium, and
- Some Swedish students whose insurance is provided by CSN International (the Swedish National Board of Student Aid) or Kammarkollegiet (the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administration Agency).
Health insurance cover is also required for all family members residing in Australia on a dependent visa.
Flinders University's preferred OSHC provider

Medibank OSHC has a 24/7 Student Health and Support Line that provides support to all international students covered by Medibank OSHC. Their number is 1800 887 283.

Choose your own provider
If you do choose your own provider, please ensure that you maintain health cover for your entire stay in Australia. Soon after your arrival in Australia, you must provide Flinders Connect with proof of your health cover.
Most providers offer OSHC membership that covers hospital and medical treatment; emergency ambulance services; selected pharmacy items, and other services (although waiting periods may apply in some circumstances).
