Student services at Tonsley

If you need library assistance at Tonsley, please call the Library and FLO helpdesk 1300 FLINDERS (select 3 for library) or email library@flinders.edu.au for assistance.

Students and staff based at Tonsley can use the SendIt service to have books from other library branches delivered for collection at the information desk on the ground floor. Items can be returned using the library return chute located adjacent to ground floor lifts.

Students can use the computer lab on level 3. There is also quiet study space on level 1 if you have your own device.

If you are a current student from the College of Science and Engineering students and require the use of a laptop, there are a limited number of laptops available to borrow.

Laptops are for use on site at Tonsley between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (no overnight loans). You will need your student ID card with you to borrow a laptop.

In addition to the general computer requirements for study, it is recommended that students undertaking topics in the College of Science and Engineering also have access to a computer (ideally a laptop) which meets the following technical requirements:

• Central Processing Unit (CPU) minimum of Intel Core i5, ARM M1, AMD Ryzen 5 (U series) or equivalent
• Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) will likely be required for some topics undertaken in a computing or engineering course or higher degree studies
• Memory - 16GB minimum, data intensive courses may require more
• Hard Disk - 256GB SSD minimum, data intensive courses may require more
• Wifi compatible
• Monitor/ display - 13” minimum
• Microsoft Office (enrolled students have access to the full Office 365 ProPlus suite)
• OS - Windows 10 (preferably in English) or OS X 10.13 (preferably in English).  It is necessary to keep up to date with operating system versions.  Note: some software will only run on particular operating systems.
• Local backup disk - 500GB minimum, it is recommended to have approximately 4 times the size of your hard disk.
• Cloud backup can be used, but should not be a substitute for local backup
• A stable internet connection
