The information on this page is to be read in addition to the placement information for all postgraduate nursing students.
It is recommended that students explore their placement options and requirements prior to enrolment.
The required placement experiences may not be available in your local area and some travel may be necessary to address all the placement requirements.
Students must be employed in an emergency clinical specialist setting (e.g. emergency department or RDFS) to complete the placement topic.
Please complete the online placement form to demonstrate that your employer will support your placement and assist in the acquisition of clinical skills. The Work Integrated Learning team will use the details in the online placement form to confirm the placement.
Students in the placement topics will need to nominate a mentor from their workplace. When choosing your mentor or mentors, you need to consider your learning requirements. A mentor must be supportive of your learning needs. However, as an adult learner, your learning needs must be self-directed, and it is expected that you will seek out opportunities to complete your clinical skills assessments and address any shortfalls in your knowledge that you have identified. It is recommended that you negotiate with your manager/employer shift patterns that match those of your mentors, to increase your learning opportunities and ability to complete the clinical skills assessment.
