The Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science) requires 3 years of full-time study. The award offered by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The award is an alternative study path, or exit degree, for students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science), Master of Optometry.
To be eligible to transfer to the Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science) students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science), Master of Optometry and must have successfully completed years1 to 3 (108 units).
The course is not available to international applicants.
The Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science) provides a strong foundation in medical sciences and visual function that prepares graduates with knowledge and skills to follow a career within a research area related to visual function. The degree does not allow registration as an optometrist but provides training in imaging of the eye and a broad understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of the visual system that may be applied to careers within the medical sciences.

To qualify for the Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science) a student must complete 108 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study.
