To qualify for the Master of Disability Policy and Practice a student must complete 72 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study.
Not all topics are necessarily available in a given year.
The award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occasion may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress.
Except with permission of the Course Coordinator the program must be completed full-time within four consecutive semesters or the equivalent part-time.
DSRS9057 Disability: Individual, Family and Society* (4.5 units)
* DSRS9057 must be completed in the student’s first semester of enrolment.
Plus at least one of the following independent research topics to be completed after 36 units of the program.
DSRS9054 Directed Study in Disability (4.5 units)
DSRS9055 Coursework Project in Disability/Rehabilitation (9 units)
Or
EDUC9761 Approaches to Research (4.5 units) or another 4.5 unit research methods topic as negotiated with the Masters Coordinator;

DSRS9030B Dissertation in Disability Studies (9 units)
DSRS9030C Dissertation in Disability Studies (9 units)
DSRS9030D Dissertation in Disability Studies (4.5 units)
DSRS9030E Dissertation in Disability Studies (4.5 units)
DSRS9030F Dissertation in Disability Studies (4.5 units)
DSRS9030G Dissertation in Disability Studies (4.5 units)
# Students who wish to undertake the Dissertation topics must have completed 36 units of study in the course and have a GPA of 5 or above, have successfully completed and approved Research Methods topic and seek approval from the Course Coordinator prior to enrolling in the Dissertation. The Dissertation can only be undertaken on a part-time basis.
Plus at least one of the following Practicum topics:
DSRS9053 Advanced Practicum in Disability (4.5 units) or
DSRS9059 Professional Practicum (9 units)
Plus at least one of the following Policy topics**
POAD8014 Public Policy (4.5 units)
POAD9026 Management of Non-Government Organisations (4.5 units)
POAD9136 Cuture and Public Policy (4.5 units)
**Or another Policy topic with approval from the Course Coordinator

DSRS9064 Technology and Disability (4.5 units)
DSRS9065 Perspectives on Ageing and Disability (4.5 units)
DSRS9067 Leisure, Disability and The Arts (4.5 units)
DSRS9068 Counselling - Practical Applications (4.5 units)

DSRS9070 Early Intervention for Children with Developmental Delays (4.5 units)
EDUC9761 Approaches to Research (4.5 units)
REMH8025 Recognising and Responding to Dementia in Indigenous Communities (4.5 units)
REMH8026 Working with People with Disabilities in Remote and Indigenous Contexts (4.5 units)
In addition to selecting option topics as listed above. students may, after their first semester of study and upon approval from the Course Coordinator, undertake relevant topics outside of the disability area (eg social work, international development, chronic condition management, health, education, aged care, rehabilitation, counselling).
Upon admittance into the course, students should contact the Course Coordinator and make a time to discuss their study plan.
